Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Specific Areas (30 min) £35

Full leg (45 min) £45

Lower legs (30 min) £35

Lymphatic drainage is a therapeutic massage treatment. The massage uses very light pressure and long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase the flow of lymph and reduce toxins in your body. The lymphatic system is part of your body's immune system and helps fight infection. Lymph itself is a clear, slightly yellow fluid. It transports nutrients and oxygen to cells, collecting toxins on the way and flushing them out through the lymph nodes. You have around twice as many lymph vessels as blood vessels in your body. However, unlike blood, which is pumped around by your heart, the lymph system has no pump. The pressure from your blood vessels and movement from your muscles push the lymph along. Lymphatic drainage massage can have a beneficial effect on your general health. Because lymph is key to keeping your immune system working properly, improving the flow and drainage of lymph around the body is good for you in lots of ways.

This treatment is ideal for those suffering with Lymphoedema, Oedema, swollen legs, post operation and post illness.

Pregnancy Massage

Back, Neck & Shoulders (30 mins) £35

Back, Neck & Shoulders, Feet & Scalp (45 mins) £45

Full Body (75 mins) £75

Pregnancy massage is similar in many ways to a normal massage, the main difference being that massage techniques used in pregnancy are adapted to maintain the wellbeing of mother and child. Techniques vary from firmer massages to relieve discomfort, or softer massages to help relax the expectant mother.

Before your massage you’ll be asked questions on your pregnancy and the type of massage you’d like.

Is it safe to have a pregnancy massage?

If you’re considering a massage, you should consult your midwife or GP before having the treatment and check that they are happy for you to go ahead.

You should avoid having a pregnancy massage if:

  • Your midwife or doctor has advised against it

  • You’re experiencing nausea or headaches.

  • You have a high risk of premature labour.

It’s possible for women to receive massages throughout the duration of their pregnancy, with techniques adapted to the stage of pregnancy they’re at.

Unfortunately we do not offer massages to a women in their first trimester because of the increased risk of miscarriage associated with the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

What are the benefits of pregnancy massage?

There’s been little research done to confirm the benefits of pregnancy massage but it has been growing in popularity over recent years, with women claiming an improvement in their prenatal health.

These improvements include:

  • Relief from aching muscles and joint pain

  • Reduction in anxiety and stress by increasing “feel-good” hormones

  • Rejuvenating energy

  • Improved sleep
